Bhutan has different entry requirements and travel policies for international visitors and Indian nationals. The information below provides a general guide to help guests prepare for their journey.

International visitors must apply for a visa in advance through the Bhutan Immigration Services Portal or through a licensed tour operator.
A one-time non-refundable visa fee of USD 40 applies.
Visitors must have a passport that is valid for at least 6 months beyond their departure date.
The current discounted SDF is USD 100 per adult per night through August 31, 2027.
Children aged 6–12 pay USD 50 per night. Children under 6 are exempt.
Visitors should book certified accommodation and use licensed guides where required for regional travel.
Indian nationals do not require a visa but must obtain an entry permit at designated entry points such as Paro Airport or the Phuentsholing pedestrian terminal.
Indian nationals may use an original Indian Passport or Voter ID card.
Minors under 18 require a birth certificate or passport and must travel with a legal guardian.
The SDF is INR 1,200 per adult per night.
Children aged 5 and under are exempt. Children aged 6–12 receive a 50% discount.
Border town visits of less than 24 hours to places such as Phuentsholing or Gelephu do not require an SDF.
Indian-registered vehicles may enter designated border zones subject to applicable rules.
Vehicles travelling beyond designated areas and checkpoints may be subject to applicable Green Tax and registration requirements.
